Don't encourage the girl Ms Winters....
Whats the show like? Does it follow the books pretty much or is it mostly different? Still the same characters or new ones?

This may SPOIL you, but just a little.

Same characters except Susan and Mister only appear briefly. Couple of extra very minor characters, mostly for romantic interludes. Murphy is a brunette and Bob is usually in a physical ghosty form, but you can walk through him. Oh, and Bianca is (for her anyway) nice. :? Harry loses his dad at a later age and kills his mentor at a later age as well.
The only episode that I noticed that they really tried to tie in with a book is Storm Front. There are a few references to the other books in a sort of side topic way. The stories are quite good as they usually stand on their own. :)

And no Tomas or Michael. As two of Harry's strongest supporting members it was odd to not see them in it. Obviously they were planned to be introduced eventually. That would of been sweet.

Yes and I must say that i'm enjoying it, but thats only after watching one episode.... i thought they would have had a bit more backstory with it.. and it seems to me that it has been heavily edited. I think to fit a 1 hour format instead of a 2 hour premier..... what a shame... good things never seem to last very long anymore do they?

They did. Storm front was originally shot as a 2 hour premiere movie but was shortened for TV release, instead of re-filming. I think the 2hour version is floating around somewhere. I'll have to get curious about that.

I don't know about Michael, but James Marsters would have to be in it. He's read the book series before.

Obviously Mike would have to be someone big and imposing.

Robert De Niro for Gentleman Johnny Marcone, anyone?

lol. Does Robert De Niro do TV? I could see him as Marcone though. Or perhaps Kurt Russell? (saw him on Gilligan's Island once)

My bad. Storm front was the first they made, but it got placed at 8 or so. They lead pretty weakly.
Partly because the special effects weren't completed, which is why the latter half has more flash.

Yeah i just saw that.. was coming to post that actually... so they made it differently and aired differently.. just like firefly...Thats just effin fantastic....and they lead weakly you say? meaning they don't really follow on one from another?

I think they should go back and redo the whole lot..
If i was Jim i would be mighty pissed that they had destroyed it...

Each episode is pretty stand alone, at least until the latter half of the season. but birds of a feather was a weak intro, really, if they lead with storm front then alot of Dresden fans wouldn't of been disappointed as much.

I think a Dresden Files movie franchise is the way to go, and no tweaks (like bob the ghost of a sorcerer and not an air spirit) like they did in the series. It could be really successful.
I picture a cinema release for Storm Front followed by DVD releases.

I bet they spent most of the budget on the first episode on the birds' eyes.
There must be a way to score premier tickets for a Dresden Files movie. The progession is only natural. :)
