Here's the place to discuss science fiction and fantasy films, plus their characters, actors, and crew.

Lol so have we! Oh you mean the philosophers stone... The dumbed the title down for the Americans cos they were afraid that it wouldn't do that well in the good old U S of A if it had a complicated word in the title..
How lame... and stupid too..

We are up the Order of the Phoenix now.
And i'm up to the the half blood prince in the Stephen Fry audio book collection.

Oh yes, they feel the need to change the title.
But, that is the one I mean, yes. Gonna try to watch them all through the week.
Read them all years ago, but kept the books and I'm thinking about cracking them open again.
The Order of the Phoenix is my favourite in the series.

Bet the audio books sound great!

Also hopeing to make it to the theme park in a month or two for springtime fun.

Mate, Stephen fry reading the audio books is the bomb... the guy can really bring those books to like. My most favouritest scene is in the deathly hallows when Harry and Hermione are in the grave yard and they find Harry's parents graves.. simply awesome

My favourite book thought is the Goblet of Fire but it is followed really closely by the order of the phoenix.

Man, I've actually seen that. It funny because I don't usually like westerns, but that one is definitely a winner.

I have actually been to the movies! Woot!

Of the last few I have seen, I loved John Carter!
I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of stars makes me dream.

King of the Zombies.
It had become quite a favourite actually. Mantan Moreland was a great actor.

That was officially in early December 1941 that the U.S. enter WWII. December 8th, if memory serves. Before then we were officially neutral.

Yeah, they didn't make cars during the war and no Thanks Giving Day Macy's parade either. So many things went to the war effort. Food and gasoline was rationed also.

My mum was a girl then and she remembers them smashing cans and collecting rubber to donate to be reused. Don't know if they did actually reuse the stuff or not though. Some say they didn't, it was just to make people feel a part of it all by helping out.

Barnabas' mum was also a girl then, but in Newfoundland (still a British colony at the time) and she saw shot up ships and even a captures U-Boat coming in to Saint John's Harbor back then.

Well if they didn't at least they had the right mind set i suppose?
Speaking from today's point of view i reckon it's cool that Barnabas' mum got see a Das Boot, but i bet a lot of people didn't back then.

You are quite right, Aaron. I would say they did.

There is a great U-boat U505 is at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry. It is mostly intact and you can really see it! It's the one that had the enigma machine that was captured.

Makes me wanna go rent the movie.

Awesome Uboat, Well on a side note, i watched Goon Last night, it's a hockey movie, it was good but not great, probably wouldn;t recommend it to anyone other then a hockey nut, or someone with a penchant for gratuitous violence, or better you a hockey nut with penchant for gratuitous violence.

Saw Angel Heart last night. I'd never seen it before, it was pretty good.

Have you guys seen Slapshot? It's from the 70's and is a very funny and brutal hockey movie. One does not even have to be a big hockey fan to appreciate it.

no idea, but to e honest i am not a big fan of violent hockey, i don't mind a bit of a dust up in a game, so long as it is justified, if your team mate takes a dangerous hit and you want to stick up for him, go for it, but when you have three players from each side, drop their gloves simultaniously the moment the puck drops on the first period, it is just a little ridiculous, the last game between the NY Rangers and the NJ Devils, that happened, within the first 8 minute of the match, something like 38 penalty minutes were issued.

Hockey Rant over.

I think they did do a remake, but the original is actually a really good comedy. Old school hockey.

Yeah the Devils and the Rangers have a massive grudge and rivalary against each other, i was actually think of going to watch a match between the two because they are usually really good matches, but every game i watched this season just got more and more rediculously violent, and so i am thinking i might go watch a different game, Devils have a long time rivalry with philly, so i might see if i can get to one of those matches instead, at least it is a healthy rivalry with a bit of respect.
