Have any of you read the Game of Thrones series?

I have started them, but started watching the show first...which I love!
I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of stars makes me dream.

Yeah i am currently read (actually i am listening) to the novels at the moment, whenever i go to the gym i listen to audio books instead of music, makes the time go faster, or at least it seems to, i am currently on the 2nd book but i am hoping to have that finished, before season two of the show premieres as i have also been watching that.

I have found it to be a fantastic series, and George is a wonderfully descriptive writer, really makes you see it all, and he certainly doesn;t pull and punches, all in all some of the best work i have read, i would recomend it to anyone who can handle mature themes, and doesn't have a bad habbit of getting attached to characters.

It's on my to do list and it's very nearly to the top. I have heard George likes to keep the characters.. ahh fresh i should say? I haven't even watched the series yet as i prefer to read the novel(s) first before i watch it. That usually goes for anything.
Is the tv series a close adaptation from the novels? or is it completely different?

Well the first season is extreamly close to the first novel, there are a few minor changes here and there but nothing to profound, i mean there is only so much you can put into a tv show without blowing the budget or allotted time. I have heard the second season is slightly different to the second book, but i suspect once again that they are all probably minor changes due to time/money constraints.

well everyone i have spoken to who has read the books and seen the show, praises the show, so i guess that is saying something, sure they still think the book is better, but they still like the show.

That does sound good. I'll have to see if I can find it online.
